Resection of Primary Osteosarcoma Tumor Enhances the Pulmonary Metastasis through the Activation of Angiogenesis

چکیده
It is well known that more than 50% of the patients with osteosarcoma affected pulmonary metastasis at the time of diagnosis of the primary lesion although such a dormant micrometastasis is often asymptomatic and clinically undetectable until relapse. There are several clinical evidences showing that some of these patients relapse of pulmonary metastasis within months after the removal of the primary lesion. Howevwe, little is known about the molecular mechanism of the early relapse of the pulmonary metastasis of osteosarcoma. Thus, to clarify the moleculae mechanism of this phenomenon, we have examined whether removal of osteosarcoma can enhance the establishment of pulmonary metastasis. In addition, we assessed that the removal of the primary osteosarcoma tumor enhance the angiogenic activity. Furthermore, we investigated whether s.c. delivery of TNP-470, an angiogenesis inhibitor, inhibited the progression of pulmonary metastasis after the removal of primary osteosarcoma tumor.

Evaluation of surgical treatment results in parosteal osteosarcoma
Abstract Background: Parosteal osteosarcoma is rare low-grade malignancy which arises on the surface of the metaphysis of long bones it has a low propensity to metastasize. Different surgical treatment options including marginal resection, wide resection and amputation were recommended for the tumor. The purpose of the study was to assess the results of different surgical treatment ...
متن کاملPrimary Osteosarcoma of the Sternum: A case Report and Review of the Literature
Osteosarcoma (osteogenic sarcoma: OS) is the most common primary malignant bone tumor of long bones, whereas primary osteosarcoma of chest wall, especially in sternum, is extremely rare. We report a 57-year-old man with an immobile slow growing mass located in the middle of the sternum. The patient had no significant pain or tenderness and the past medical history was not remarkable. CT-scan sh...
متن کاملEndostar combined with chemotherapy in a pediatric osteosarcoma with pulmonary metastasis and malignant pleural effusion
RATIONALE Angiogenesis is a key factor for tumor growth and metastasis both in cancer and sarcoma. Endostar, a novel safe and well-tolerated recombinant human endostatin, can suppress the expression of VEGF and the activation of ERK, MAPK, and AKT, and then inhibit tumor progression. PATIENT CONCERNS A pediatric osteosarcoma with pulmonary metastasis and malignant pleural effusion. DIAGNOSE...
متن کاملCushing’s syndrome associated with typical, peripheral pulmonary carcinoid tumor and N2 lymph node metastasis: case report
Background: The bronchopulmonary carcinoid tumor accounts for 1-2% of all adult malignancies of the lung and 20-30% of all carcinoid tumors. Cushing’s syndrome is the result of chronic exposure to increased concentration of exogenous or endo-genus cortisol hormone, and it is generally associated with central obesity, metabolic syndrome, and hypertension. Treatment is based on decreasing cortiso...
متن کاملPrevention of postoperative progression of pulmonary metastases in osteosarcoma by antiangiogenic therapy using endostatin.
BACKGROUND We have previously offered data suggesting a positive linkage of postoperative up-regulation of systemic angiogenic activity and postoperative progression of pulmonary metastasis in osteosarcoma. The finding that the significant down-regulation of endostatin was critical in angiogenic elevation after primary tumor removal suggests that endostatin is a candidate for antiangiogenic the...
